Lessons and Training with Rene Gagnon

Adirondack Foothills Equine is pleased to introduce Rene Gagnon and Gagnon Performance Horses to our facilities as a coach and trainer. Rene’s horse experience began with trail riding, barrel racing, pole bending, equitation, showmanship, trail, pleasure, dressage, and hunter-jumpers. However, for the last 20 years, his specialty has been with working in the reining or western dressage disciplines.

In 1990, Rene discovered his passion when he went to work for Alain Allard. Mr. Allard was the 1989 Reining Futurity Champion of Oklahoma with Brenna’s Kid. During the next six years, Rene worked as Mr. Allard’s assistant. As such, he started 2 year olds, trained three and four year olds, and assisted at many major reining shows in both Canada and the United States in cities such as Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Columbus, Ohio; and Williamston, North Carolina. In 1993, 1994 and 1995, the Academy of Equestrian Excellence in Quebec named Rene Gagnon as one of the top coaches in Canada. Rene earned a Level 3 certification from the Canadian Equestrian Federation and a Level 2 certification from the Equestrian Federation of Quebec for coaching and training. Rene had his own barn in Canada, but left in 2000 to train and coach in the United States. While here in the US, Rene conducted clinics with Francois Gauthier and acquired an additional certification to work with handicapped individuals.

Rene’s client’s records are proof of his talent and patience as a coach and trainer. They have earned more than $100,000 in cash, many Lawson & Morrison pewter plaques, and blue ribbons from the National Reining Horse Association Events. Rene believes in creating the best foundation for not only the horse, but for the rider also. If you want to learn with your horse, and get the best coaching around, you are at the right place – with Gagnon Performance Horses and Adirondack Foothills Equine.

“It’s like building a house; if you do not have a good foundation, nothing is solid.”

-Rene Gagnon, Gagnon Performance Horses
